Room wanted – HarlemEast Harlem Harlem Morningside 675
Female student seeking unfurnished room in an apartment in Harlem. Seeking ongoing, long-term housing.
About me:
I’m a grad student. I have reliable income through student aid. I’m an introvert. My in-apartment activities include doing homework, cooking (simple stuff usually, but I know how to do more than simple), cleaning up after myself. I’m not into drugs or partying. I’m a humanities and social science person. I need a study environment, but I don’t mind household noises such as appliances, tv/music at regular volumes, people talking, etc.
I would like to have:
reliable internet service
About the bedroom:
a closet or option to bring in an armoire; enough space in my bedroom for my bed, chest of drawers, and medium desk; to be the only one walking into my bedroom
About the common spaces:
Live in low clutter; space for my stuff in the kitchen cupboard, fridge, freezer, bathroom; be able to cook in the kitchen; sit in a living room if I choose to to do my homework or read, quietly watch internet tv or listen to music; be able to have 1 or 2 people over to hang out or serve dinner, occasionally (don’t imagine parties because I’m low key)
About the roommates:
will chat occasionally but not necessarily be friends; don’t care how I decorate my room or how much stuff I have (not that I have a ton of it) so long as my stuff fits into the room and I don’t damage the apartment itself; clean up after their cooking enough that it doesn’t attract rodents and bugs nor block use of the sink
About the terms:
To be quoted rent including utilities; to be able to pay rent directly to the management company and not to someone who lives in the apartment
FURNISHED 2 Bdrms Apt in Trendy Chelsea Students Welcome Chelsea 150 2bd
Location: New York City- Chelsea, on West 16th street between 8th and 9th Avenues.
This basic 2-bedroom apartment has an area of approximately 800 square feet and sleeps three people easily.
The rental is located on the third floor of a prewar building in the heart of ManhattanÂ’s trendy Chelsea district. Walk up 3rd floor (two flights up).
The apartment is basic (no pretense whatsoever), and is simply furnished. However it has everything you probably need. Not a lot of light due to the proximity of the next building except in the main bedroom which faces the street so has more natural light.
There is a single-size bed in the 1st bedroom (for one person) and a queen-size one in the main bedroom (that sleeps 2 comfortably). There is a desk, closet and dresser in the main bedroom. There is a big closet in the Hallway.
The separate / open kitchen is fully furnished with all the equipment necessary for the preparation of food: a four-ring gas cooker, and a refrigerator with freezer, a microwave, pots and pans. The cupboards provide storage space for the kitchenware.
The little living room, off of the kitchen has a small sofa, a chair, a TV with cable and VCR, and also a stereo. Telephone with local calls free included.
The bathroom, which is both clean and compact, contains a shower and tub. Bed linens and clean towels are provided. Laundry facilities are available one block away, on West 15th street.
Neighborhood: Equidistant between Chelsea and Greenwich Village and also close to Union Square and the up-and-coming and vibrant Meatpacking District, both less than 10 minutes by foot. Very well situated for shopping on 5th and 6th avenues and for the restaurants, bars and coffee houses of the West Village. On weekends, the neighborhood is packed with shoppers who come for the local flea market and antique shopping malls. Delis abound on each corner and the Antique Café is located across the street 200 feet away. South on 6th Avenue is a major shopping district in renovated turn of the century architecture. It includes many clothing stores as well as a Barnes and Noble. Several movie theatres are within walking distance, East are a wide variety of restaurants south on 7th and 8th Avenues. Within a short walk North on 7th Avenue is Madison Square Garden, and Penn Station, North on 5th Avenue, The Empire State Building; and to the East a few blocks, is the famous Flat Iron Building.
Transportation: Subway lines 1,2,3,9, F very close and lines A, C, E, L, right in the corner. Well served by bus lines North-South and East-West. Cabs, of course, are everywhere.
Subway: A,C,E,L trains on West 16th Street and 8th Avenue
Rate: $150/night or $3,200 per month. Security Deposit $300. Wireless Wi-Fi internet connection and all utilities Included (electricity, cable, local phone, internet)
