THE ROOM is small but private, with a wonderful window, an ample closet, a fire escape, and hardwood floors. I do have photos which I can email to you! Please note that because the fire escape is accessed through this room, you cannot lock your door, but don’t worry… I will always respect your privacy and property, and I expect the same from you! (My room doesn’t even really have a door.) Technically, a double bed will fit in this room, but you will probably be happier if you have a single.

THE APARTMENT is on an adorable street with some of the best little cafes in the area. It’s a cozy little space, with all hardwood flooring except in the bathroom. It has a full kitchen, although everything in it is small, especially the fridge. I tend to keep it very clean myself (I hate bugs, don’t you?), but I expect each person to do her part. The bathroom is a fairly basic one, but I have tried to make it as relaxing and inviting as possible! Please note that there is no living room, but you are more than welcome to entertain your guests in your own room… It’s great to have a home filled with people you love! Animals, unfortunately, are a different story; as much as I love pets, we do not allow them in the apartment.

THE TRAIN is around the corner (super close!). Catch the ACE BDFM at West 4th station or the 1 at Christopher St.

THE AREA is a lot of fun! It’s a safe place to walk around any time of the day or night. This is a great area if you love gardens and open piazzas, gourmet food, choice wines, cozy spaces, art, creativity, the occasional street market, and a vague atmosphere of community (without the responsibility of community) within the big city. Our street is just off of busy Bleecker St, but it is pleasantly quiet.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO ME IS TO FIND A GOOD ROOMMATE! This apartment fits three people within an intimate space, so it is imperative that we all get along well here. I have only been in this apartment since March, and already I have had an absolutely ghastly and heartbreaking experience with the person who just moved out, so this time I need to do things a little differently. If you want to live here, please be prepared to sign a contract and prove that you are employed and have some savings. YOU WILL NEED FIRST MONTH’S RENT PLUS ONE MONTH’S SECURITY DEPOSIT UP FRONT TO MOVE IN. Also, when you first write to me, please tell me AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE about yourself and your personality. Please just be honest and don’t try to impress me. I’m sure you’re good enough as you are : )

In the past, I would have said that I do not necessarily want a roommate who wants to be good friends with the people she lives with, but in light of my recent experience, I am realizing that I do. If you are not comfortable sitting down with me to have some cookies or a cup of tea when you come to see the room, we are probably not going to get along. It’s not that I’m going to be clinging to you or hovering at your doorway; I don’t even have time for that. It’s just that I’m one of those people who likes to do things and share things and explore and experience everything, and I like to live with people who also enjoy life.When I live with people whose company I enjoy, I feel exponentially happier, and I do like to be happy. I hope you do, too, because if you don’t, we are not going to get along : )

You do not have to be a cool kid or a fashionista or a model or a rock star to live here. (Well, I mean, if you live in New York, you are by necessity a rock star anyway, but you know what I mean…) However, you DO have to be a good person, a genuine person, a warm-hearted person who treats others with kindness and fairness. You do have to be respectful, responsible, trustworthy, and honest. These are the things I value. Our lives are not perfect here, but that doesn’t stop us from living to the fullest! We try to make the best out of everything and have a little fun or a little comfort no matter how bad a day it might have been.

PRIORITY WILL BE GIVEN TO PEOPLE WHO:
- want to move in around August 1st (or earlier). Of course, if I don’t find anyone, I will keep looking.
- are ladies… I’m sorry, gentlemen; although you are welcome as guests, for day-to-day living in a little space, I think it’s just more comfortable to have all girls.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME… The first thing you should know about me is this: The small group of people whom I most love – my friends and family – are the only thing that matter to me. (I don’t say that to sound threatening; most of the time in the past, my roommates became part of this group of people also.)
